Gwyneth Paltrow signs record deal

Atlantic Records offers recording contract to Academy Award-winning actress.

Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, wife of Chris Martin, singer and pianist of the band Coldplay, is planning to record her debut album, reports Thewrap.com

She has reportedly signed a $900,000 deal with Atlantic Records, joining a list of artists that includes James Blunt, Janelle Monáe and Kid Rock, among others.

Paltrow has already demonstrated her singing talent as far back as 2000 in her karaoke movie with Huey Lewis called Duets. More recently she played the role of country and western singer in Country Strong where she sang and performed her own songs.

She has appeared on the hit TV show Glee, where she performed a mash-up of Singin’ in the Rain and Umbrella, and more recently, she sang a censored version of the song Forget You by Cee Lo Green. She also turned in another remarkable performance in yesterday’s (March 8) episode of the show.

In February, she performed a high-profile duet of Forget You with Cee Lo Green at the Grammys. While walking the red carpet at the Oscars, Paltrow said her dream was to sing with Jay-Z.

According to the New York Post, the demos from Paltrow’s first album are described as ‘country-pop.’ Look out, Shania.
