New albums from R.E.M., Avril Lavigne hit shelves this week.

Prolific rock band R.E.M. releases their 15th studio album today, Collapse Into Now. "There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers," band member Mike Mills told SPIN.

Also out this week, Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne launches her fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby. The album’s lead single, What the Hell, debuted in January at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.

For fans of the popular television show, Glee: The Music, Volume 5 hits shelves today. Glee‘s sixth soundtrack album, it is the first to contain original songs written specifically for the show.

This week is also a big one for fans of classic rock and oldies. Billy Joel releases a live album, Live at Shea Stadium, as does Respect singer Aretha Franklin with Oh Me, Oh My: Aretha Live In Philly 1972.

Folk duo Simon & Garfunkel release Bridge Over Troubled Water (40th Anniversary Edition), and singer-songwriter Neil Diamond puts out a new compilation album, Neil Diamond – The Bang Years 1966-1968.

The King of Rock and Roll himself appears on a rerelease of his first album available in true stereo, as Elvis Is Back! (Legacy Edition) hits shelves.
