Adele’s growing popularity leads to larger venues

Strong ticket demand for British songstress’ North American tour.

The increasing popularity of British songstress, Adele, has pushed ticket demand for U.S. shows so much that the soul sensation has moved several performances to larger venues, reports Starpulse.com.

This week in the U.S., the star released her second album, 21, which is selling quickly and already set to top U.S. charts. She made U.K. chart history last week as the first artist since the Beatles to have two songs and two albums in the top five.

The singer begins her American tour this spring, but after some of her shows sold out in minutes, the Chasing Pavements hitmaker moved some gigs to larger venues.

However, the soulful performer dislikes playing large venues, and recently said, “I can’t do arenas because I’m not Gaga.”

Her latest single Someone Like You is already in the U.K. top five. You can check out the song yourself in this YouTube performance.

Adele’s first 2011 North American gig takes place in Washington DC on May 12. She’ll make a few stops in Canada – May 16 in Montreal and May 18 in Toronto – before heading to New York.
