Greek food festival in Paris next month

Le Festival de la gastronomie grecque on for the month of March.

In partnership with Greece, Paris is launching a Greek food festival, Le Festival de la gastronomie grecque, which will take place throughout the month of March, reports Le Quotidien.

On March 1, Greek Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, George Nikitiadis, will visit the French capital for the festival’s launch. Nikitiadis will be accompanied by celebrated Greek chefs from the regions of Crete, Rhodes, Halkidiki, Corfu and Athens.

Opening festivities will take place in the Imperial Salon at The Westin Paris. With the guidance of head chef Dina Nicolaou, the chefs will create a buffet of regional Greek cuisine for all to sample.

Following the opening event, Parisian restaurants Evi Evane, Les Délices d’Aphrodite, Mavrommatis, L’Olivier and La Maison Grecque will be offering special Greek-themed menus from March 2 to 31 as part of the festival.

Culinary traditions in Greece to date back several millenia, and today’s Greek cuisine still features olive oil, wine, vegetables like eggplant and zucchini, feta cheese, herbs, and yogurt.
