Spanish soccer star smolders in 2011 spring-summer campaign.

Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué, 24, has signed on with the men’s fashion brand to become the new star of H.E. by Mango for two consecutive seasons: both the spring-summer and autumn-winter campaigns.

Also known as Shakira’s boyfriend, the handsome athlete smolders in the ad campaign shot by Francesco Carrozzini. Success and professionalism were essential requirements for the brand when they chose the young soccer star.

Piqué was on the winning Spanish national team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which was also when he met his new Columbian pop star girlfriend who just happened to be performing at the event.

Mango states Piqué perfectly represents the type of man the brand aims to dress: young and carefree, with his own style and personality.

Born in Barcelona into a soccer-mad family, Piqué trained as a soccer player in FC Barcelona alongside well-established players like Lionel Messi and Cesc Fàbregas and made his debut in 2005 with Manchester United. He has since returned to the FC Barcelona team, which has won numerous titles.

With this new collaboration, the Spanish fashion brand is moving away from using anonymous young models towards featuring famous faces and the celebrity endorsements they imply. Actress Scarlett Johansson represents this strategy for Mango’s womenswear.

H.E. by Mango was created in 2008 to offer men a range of contemporary and modern fashions. Based on updating the classics, its fashions adapt the latest trends into a simple, everyday urban style.
