New Music February 22

Radiohead’s surprise new album dominates music news this week.

Radiohead dominates the new music scene this week with the surprise early release of The King of Limbs. Announced only last week, the album dropped a day early to the delight of fans.

The King of Limbs, named after a tree in Wiltshire, England’s Savernake Forest, is a follow-up to 2007’s In Rainbows. Characteristic of Radiohead’s man-versus-machine sound, it’s slightly warmer and more melodic than previous albums from the band.

Also out this week, 21, the sophomore album from British singer Adele. The 22-year-old singer infuses the album with a mix of styles, and tracks range from pop to country and even include funk and jazz. The album’s first single, Rolling in the Deep climbed to number two on the UK Singles Chart after being released late last year.

Johnny Cash’s second official bootleg album, Bootleg, Volume 2: From Memphis to Hollywood, drops today. Among the 57 tracks contained in this two-disc set are several unreleased cuts and live performances from the iconic country singer.

Also out this week is Smart Flesh from folk-rock group The Low Anthem, a follow-up to their 2008 album Oh My God, Charlie Darwin; and Underneath the Pine from recording artist Toro Y Moi.
