Belgian-American fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, best known for her iconic 1970s wrap dress – which is still going strong – has decided to apply her designer talents to home decorating with the launch of ‘DVF Home’ collection, reports Coco Perez .
Featured in the February issue of O magazine, this new collection offers bold-patterned dishes, flatware, and bedding. Geometrically-shaped porcelain plates and bowls have uneven edges that come together in a unified and balanced way. The combination of bold shapes, colours, and patterns creates an appetizing presentation.
The flatware is available in gold-plated and resin-handled sets – again providing an eclectic mix-and-match approach to table setting. The designer firmly believes it is easier to commingle these pieces with your own current favourites.
In 2005, Von Furstenburg was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for her impact on fashion, and one year later, was elected the CFDA’s new president, an office she continues to hold.
A firm believer in the power of women, Diane sits on the board of Vital Voices, a women’s leadership organization that empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the world.
