Lindsay Lohan accused of stealing jewelry

Mean Girls stars walked away with $2,500 necklace.

Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan, 24, could be facing several years in prison if charged and convicted of stealing a $2,500 from a Venice, California jewelry store, reports People. Surveillance video shows the actress with the necklace, and there are photos of her wearing it a week later according to TMZ.

Los Angeles district attorney is investigating the case, but Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, said his client is ready to fight. "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."

The necklace was taken on January 22, but before the police could execute a search warrant of the actress’ home, it was surrendered at a local police station. Lohan, 24, will face a felony grand theft charge today (February 7), reportsTMZ.

"Lindsay doesn’t understand how the store can file a police report when they let her borrow the necklace," said a source close to the actress. "She’s used to getting gifted items that are worth way more than that. And why would she steal a necklace? She has tons of jewelry and doesn’t need anymore."

The star is still on probation for her impaired driving and is scheduled for a review hearing later this month on February 25. She’s also under investigation for assaulting an employee at the rehab centre she attended.
