Emma Watson launches new fair-trade fashion collection

Harry Potter star releases her third collection for charitable fashion label.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson is releasing her third collection in collaboration with fair trade fashion house People Tree, reports People.

Watson began her partnership with People Tree early last year, kicking things off with a spring 2010 knitwear collection. Last fall, her second collection featured bold colours and styles.

This season, Watson took a more direct role in creating the look of her signature collection: "I designed the collection last year after I’d started university in the U.S. Safia, People Tree’s founder, and Misato, People Tree’s designer, came out to work with me in Rhode Island."

For the new 2011 spring-summer collection, black, white and red are the predominant colours in the collection which includes harem pants, T-shirts, blazers, and wrap dresses.

"We took care to design a really wearable collection that truly celebrates the traditional skills of People Tree’s Fair Trade groups around the world," said Watson in a statement.

While the line officially launches on February 28 with its own special catalogue featuring Watson, a few items from the collection are already available for purchase through the People Tree website

People Tree was launched in the U.K. in 2001, and is a registered member of the World Fair Trade Organization. Watson became a creative advisor after admiring a friend’s People Tree T-shirt, which followed with an introduction to company founder, Safia Minney, who later approached Watson about doing a teen collection.
