London Art Fair opened this week

This year’s art show will be the biggest in the fair’s history.

The London Art Fair is in full swing, and this year’s show, featuring more than 100 galleries, is the biggest in the fair’s 23-year history. The fair opened on Wednesday (January 19) and runs through the weekend until Sunday, January 23.

Much of the featured art is contemporary or modern style, and several installations draw inspiration from current events, exploring themes such as economic troubles and civil unrest.

"Modern British painting and sculpture are at the heart of London Art Fair, but our thriving contemporary strand has grown with a number of galleries exhibiting at the Fair for the first time, including Danielle Arnaud, Vegas Gallery, and Bartha Contemporary," explained show director Jonathan Burton.

The different art installations use a variety of media, including painting, sculpture and photography.

Discussion panels bring together speakers from the Contemporary Art SocietyBritish Journal of PhotographyNational Media Museum and The Fleming Collection, among others. The various experts will explore broader themes, debate topics, or offer advice and feedback to art collectors.
