Arcade Fire to perform at Brit Awards

Montreal band is nominated for two British music industry awards.

Last year was a very good year for Montreal-based indie group Arcade Fire, and two Brit award nominations could make this year even better.

With the release of their first album in 2004, Funeral, the band rapidly gained a following. Their debut album was followed up by the Neon Bible in 2007. Now, with the 2010 release of The Suburbs, the Montreal band has achieved the status as one of the best rock groups today, particularly since their last album as been cited as the best of 2010 by several music journalists.

Instead of small venues, Arcade Fire drew nearly 40,000 people for the Quebec City Summer Festival last July 12, and is now able to fill Madison Square Garden in New York City.

With all their success, it comes as no surprise that they have been invited to perform at the British Record Industry Trust Awards, the English equivalent of the Grammy Awards for excellence in music.

Arcade Fire has been nominated for best international album and best international group, and has agreed to perform on the Brit awards broadcast on February 15.
