Drake and Lil Wayne to collaborate on new album

Canadian rapper and his American mentor team up for joint album.

It’s becoming increasingly rare these days for rap albums not to contain songs with featured artists.

The number of guest artists on Kanye West’s latest album reads like a virtual directory of the hip hop community. In March, West’s team effort with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne, is due to drop.

Now, Canadian rapper Drake has revealed on U.K. radio that he and his mentor Lil Wayne are also working on a joint album of their own, reports MTV News.

“I’ll be on [Tha Carter IV], though … We’ve done a great song … and then we’re going to do another one, and another one. We still got to do that album. I heard some other guys are coming out with an album, too. There’s two other rappers that are coming out with an album together. … I don’t know where they got that idea but …"

When the interviewer asked him to explain it all a bit more, Drake said, "I just caught wind of it through the grapevine, that there’s some other album coming out with two guys that rapping on it too."

When the interview alluded to the “older guys,” Drake replied: "Oh, I didn’t say that. They look young to me … in their movements."
