Pink Floyd re-signs with EMI

English band and record company resolve royalties dispute with new agreement.

One of biggest record companies in the world EMI finally has some good news to announce. After losing some of its best recording artists (Radiohead, Queen), EMI was pleased to announce they have signed a new agreement with English band Pink Floyd, who had been planning on leaving the label.

Pink Floyd’s imminent departure occurred as the group was disputing royalties received from online sales from its catalog. The band subsequently challenged the decision of the multinational to sell the band’s songs individually in downloadable digital format, since Pink Floyd has always insisted that the songs remain in the context of their albums.

Indicating that all legal disputes have been resolved, the new agreement is good for the next five years, and covers both the digital and physical markets.

"All legal disputes between the band and the company have been settled as a result of this new deal," said a statement from the label. The company aims to “help the band reach new and existing fans through their incredible body of work.”
