American Jewish history museum opens in Philadelphia

Museum encompasses over 350 years of Jewish experience in America.

The National Museum of American Jewish History has opened its doors in Philadelphia, inviting visitors to explore the history of Jewish people in America.

The museum’s core exhibition is now open to the public, with 25,000 square feet of space dedicated to telling the story of Jewish life in America over the past 350 years, making it the first major exhibition dedicated to the Jewish experience in North America.

The four core galleries span three and a half floors, and another floor will house rotating exhibits. The concourse, meanwhile, is dedicated to education, offering classrooms, a theater and a resource center.

Located on the main floor, the museum’s hall of fame, Only in America, highlights the lives and careers of eighteen famous Jewish Americans, including Steven Spielberg, Albert Einstein and Estée Lauder.

The museum’s new building is located in the heart of historic Philadelphia, overlooking the Independence Mall, and within walking distance of the Liberty Bell.
