Janet Jackson tour kicks off in Hong Kong

Fans win vote for pop singer to open Number Ones world tour this February in Hong Kong.

Janet Jackson, 44, will kick off her Number Ones 2011 world tour this February 14 in Hong Kong, according to her official website.

In November 2010, through her website, the singer asked fans to vote for the city where they most wanted to see her perform.

The fans have spoken and Hong Kong is the first city announced for Jackson’s largest ever world tour that celebrates for the first time all 35 number one hits to be performed in 35 global cities.

An overwhelming number of fans submitted suggestions for stops on her new tour. The winning city is Hong Kong, with Singapore coming in second.

This tour will differ from her previous concert schedules in that she will perform music exclusively from her chart-topping album Number Ones. There will also be a focus on venues that will allow Janet to be up close and personal in a much more intimate setting.

Jackson expressed her excitement at returning to perform in the city and the fans desire to have her there saying, “The fans really reached out and voted for Hong Kong to be the Valentine’s Day city of our Number Ones tour. I am thrilled to receive your votes and I will be performing in Hong Kong Feb 14, 2011!”
