Kylie Minogue defends controversial music video

Racy video for All the Lovers is banned in several Asian countries.

Australian singer Kylie Minogue, 42, came to the defense of her newest music video, All the Lovers, after the controversial imagery was banned in several Asian countries.

Countries joining the ban include Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, who cite the video for being too risqué. The majority of the scenes depict a scantily-clad Minogue atop a pyramid of young people in white underwear, kissing and touching one another in a variety of straight, gay and interracial pairings.

Minogue, however, defends the video’s message. "I think yes it’s sexy but I also think it’s very touching and sensual and the message is love," says the singer.

All the Lovers is the first official single off of her eleventh studio album, Aphrodite. The video was directed by Joseph Kahn and reportedly draws inspiration from the works of artist Spencer Tunick, known for his nude installations in public spaces, such as New York’s Grand Central terminal.
