Katy Perry to launch fourth single

American singer is first female artist in 12 years to have three number 1 singles in the same year.

First there was California Gurls. Then Teenage Dream. And when she launched her third single Firework just last October 26, Katy Perry became the first female artist to take first place on the Billboard Hot 100 for three songs from the same album in one year, a feat that hasn’t been seen since the late 1990s by singer Monica.

As the year draws to an end, it looks like Perry is preparing to send a fourth single to the top of the charts in early 2011. Rumours from Perry’s entourage are becoming more and more persistent, and blogger Perez Hilton has reported that Perry has chosen the song E.T. for her fourth release from the album.

On December 13, the singer asked fans to help her pick her next single, and then wrote on Twitter: "Thanks for all your great suggestions for the next single today! Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page…"

When asked by MTV News, Perry’s record company refused to confirm that E.T. is the fourth single from the singer.
