Country singer Shania Twain, 45, is engaged to Frédéric Thiebaud, 40, an executive at Swiss Nestle. According to Us magazine, he popped the question to Twain two months ago in Switzerland presenting her with a gorgeous three-carat solitaire diamond ring.
Yesterday (December 20), Twain’s manager also confirmed the happy news. The couple has been seen in New York a few days ago where the singer was sporting her engagement ring.
Thiebaud and Twain first met in special circumstances. He is the former husband of Twain’s former best friend and secretary Marie-Anne Thiebaud. In May 2008, after 14 years of marriage, her husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange abruptly left the relationship to be with Marie-Anne Thiebaud. Although Lange denied the affair, he is still in a relationship with her. It was that double betrayal and heartache that brought Twain and Thiebaud together.
Over time, their relationship turned into love, and in August 2009, Twain confirmed their relationship on her official website, calling Thiebaud "a dear friend and true gentleman…We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other up. We’ve become stronger and closer through it all.“
According to their friends, they are a good match and Twain has never been happier.
Twain and ex-husband Lange have one son Eja, 9. Next spring, the singer will launch her memoirs.
