As proof of the undeniable success of the Pixies, and propelled by newfound fame from their 2004 reunion, the group is launching a new vinyl edition compilation album entitled Wave of Mutilation, reports Clash Music.

The Pixies count great artists like Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke among their fans – Cobain especially acknowledging their influence on his band Nirvana.

First released first in April 2004, the month the group held its first reunion concert in a small room in Minnesota, the Wave of Mutilation compilation has helped a whole new generation learn about the influential group, which has now reached cult status since their breakup over artistic differences in 1993.

The new release will be available next year on January 17, with an orange vinyl edition for Europe and black vinyl for North America.

The vinyl release includes 23 songs across five Pixies album over five years from 1987 to 1991.
