Prenatal singing reduces the stress of childbirth

A new method of stress-free childbirth has arrived – prenatal singing. Workshops are popping up across Europe.

Prenatal singing benefits both mother and baby by strengthening their relationship. For the mother, vocalization provides a sense of well-being, which conveys a sense of peace and calmness to her unborn child. Singing teaches you to control your breathing – a skill that can be transferred to the the delivery room when the pushing begins.

Fathers can participate in prenatal singing. Singing strengthens the family bond both before and during birth.

And don’t worry if you don’t have perfect pitch. The objective is to release emotions and expel stress through singing.

In the womb, the baby feels the vibrations of his mother’s voice – it’s like a soothing  massage. The treble tones are energizing while the bass are soothing.

The baby’s ears develop in the fifth month and he begins to store sounds. After delivery, when the baby hears these songs again, he will remember those prenatal impressions and feel secure.
