Coldplay to release Christmas single

UK band to release Christmas Lights on December 1.

On Wednesday, December 1, English quartet, Coldplay, will release their new Christmas single, Christmas Lights. The band has not disclosed many details about the song, but a homemade press release on the group’s website today (November 24) scribbled in black marker with sections scratched out (but still legible) said:

“Next week at 8 pm on Wednesday 1st December we are releasing a new song called ‘Christmas Lights.’ It will be on itunes and everything. It is in the key of G. We hope you have a great Christmas and holidays. Yours truly: Coldplay.”

In the midst of recording their new as-yet-untitled fifth album, a follow up to the smash hit Viva la Vida, the band used their studio time to add a Coldplay Christmas touch with their new holiday song contribution.

In between studio sessions, Coldplay is also preparing to play two intimate acoustic Christmas gigs in Newcastle and Liverpool to help raise funds for a UK charity.
