Mark Wahlberg confirms role in ‘Uncharted’

American actor excited to work with Three Kings writer-director again.

In an MTV interview, actor Mark Wahlberg, 39, confirmed that he plans to star in David O. Russell’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune this summer.

Based on the series of critically-acclaimed video games, the series follows the adventures of modern-day treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he travels around the world in search of mystical treasures.

Wahlberg is set to play the hero, Nathan Drake, and said that parts had been specifically written for Robert De Niro to play his father and Joe Pesci to play his uncle, but neither has been confirmed yet.

After I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings and The Fighter, this will be the fourth collaboration between the actor and the director, which they hope to get underway this summer.

Wahlberg has several projects on his agenda, and is also a producer for HBO series Entourage, loosely based on his Hollywood experiences, and Boardwalk Empire.
