Yesterday (November 21), Canadian Justin Bieber, 16, became the youngest ever recipient, beating out Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Ke$ha, to win the most prestigious award of the evening: Artist of the Year.

With a total of four awards, Bieber was unquestionably the biggest winner of the evening  – double any other performer that night – proving to everyone that he is a force to be reckoned with. He also took home the awards for T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist, Favourite Pop/Rock Album for My World 2.0 and Favourite Pop/RockMale Artist.

The 16-year-old pop sensation and paid tribute to his mentor Usher, who also won two awards that night, and invited the superstar up onstage to bask in the limelight with him.

Bieber told the audience, "I really got this opportunity about a year-and-a-half ago, I really was embraced by a man called Usher Raymond. I feel like he’s had an amazing career, it would only be right if I invited him up to share this with me. Not only my mentor but my best friend and my big brother. I love you, man."

Bieber’s fellow Canadian Micheal Bublé won the award for Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist. Lady Gaga won the award for Favourite Pop/Rock Female Artist, and Black Eyed Peas, won Favourite Pop/Rock Group of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Rihanna turned in a stellar performance of a trilogy of her songs: Love the Way You Lie (Part II), What’s My Name?, and Only Girl (in the World), and took home the award for Favourite Soul/R&B Female Artist.
