Next Aerosmith album is ‘old school’

Band plans to work on new ‘old school’ album over winter.

For many years now, thanks to technology, musicians haven’t had to be in the same room to make an album together. Each member can come and go, working on different tracks at different times, while the producer is present throughout the process, acting like a conductor.

According to drummer, Joey Kramer, in an interview with Spinner, Aerosmith is planning to record the new album traditionally, with everyone in the studio playing together at the same time.

“It’s going to be an old-school Aerosmith record,” said Kramer. “We’re going to do it the old way with the whole band [in the same room] and it should be a good one. We’re all anticipating.”  Having just completed their tour in September, Aerosmith is fresh off the road. “The band is playing great now, so it’s a good time and everything is good.”

It remains to be seen how the group it will accomplish this feat while lead singer, Steven Tyler, spends two days a week in Los Angeles judging contestants in the upcoming season of American Idol.
