Parents of young pop singer Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, have filed for divorce after 17 years of marriage, reports People.
“As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers,” the couple said in a statement.
According to divorce papers filed yesterday (October 27) in Tennessee, Billy Ray Cyrus is the plaintiff, citing irreconcilable differences.
Billy Ray and Tish, have three children together, the singer Miley, 17, Braison, 16, and Noah, 10. Billy Ray also has adopted Tish’s two children from a previous relationship, Trace and Brandi.
In the divorce papers, Billy Ray reportedly requested joint custody of their three minor children, and a fair separation of assets.
