Christina Aguilera files for divorce

Pop star proceeds quickly from separation to divorce.

Just days after confirming her separation from her husband, Jordan Bratman, singer Christina Aguilera has officially filed for divorce, reports People.

A source close to the star said Aguilera had cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for separation. She was also requesting joint custody of their son, Max.

Christina Aguilera, 29, and Jordan Bratman, 33, married in November 2005 in Napa Valley, California, after an engagement in February of that year. Their son was born in January 2008.

In announcing the separation, Aguilera insisted that the welfare of their son come first, “Even though Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max is stronger than ever,” she said.
