To mark its fifth anniversary, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo is offering the opportunity to reserve the complete hotel for one evening at a cost of $671,000 U.S. At the same time, they hope to generate publicity and earn recognition in the Guinness Book of Records.
So what’s included for $671,000 U.S? To be exact: 178 guest rooms, nine restaurants, plus assorted spas which would be reserved from 3:00 pm in the afternoon until noon the next day. Plus the hotel is including a cocktail reception for 500 people.
A hotel spokesperson, Chie Hayakawa, said, “When the hotel opened we had an exclusive party like this—black tie, cocktail dresses. There was music and drinks and food from the restaurants, and it was all quite grand. We thought it would be fun to offer the same experience to an exclusive group of guests.”
The hotel has received some inquiries, mainly from companies. However, the date must be chosen far enough in advance that there are no reservations on the books. “It’s not as if you could just request it for later this week,” said Hayakawa.
