Singer Jessica Simpson’s beau is legally a free man. Former NFL player, Eric Johnson finalized his divorce, after five years of marriage, according to People. Johnson had been legally separated from former spouse, Keri, for one year, and had filed for divorce in January of this year.
Jessica Simpson, 30, began dating Eric Johnson, 31, last May. They shared an intimate trip to Italy where the singer celebrated her 30th birthday. In August, Simpson’s friends had said they feared that Johnson uses the singer to get more visibility.
It’s unclear what the former NFL player has been doing since his last stint with the New Orleans Saints in 2008. Another source close to Simpson, said Johnson was "the kind of guy who likes to go for really famous women.”
Friends of Johnson claim his feelings for Simpson are genuine. One of them said about the rumours: “It’s totally ridiculous and untrue. He’s a great guy and he is as crazy about Jessica as she is about him.”
Simpson was previously linked to another football player, Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, whom she dated from November 2007 to July 2009.
