Islamists want to cancel Adam Lambert concert

Pan Malaysian Islamic Party called for cancellation of Lambert’s concert.

Although America and many other parts of the world are receptive to gay culture, it’s not the same in all countries. Adam Lambert, 28, a finalist in the eighth season of television show American Idol and a frontrunner from the beginning, is dealing with discrimination in Malaysia.

Saying that Adam Lambert and his show promoted “gay culture,” Pan Malaysian Islamic Party called for cancellation of Lambert’s Thursday night (October 14) concert.

The singer, who makes no secret of his homosexuality, will perform as promised, and responded today (October 13) in a Tweet: “While I don’t believe that my glamnation tour is in any way offensive I have agreed to make a few minor adjustments out of respect for the Malaysian government.”

Later, Lambert shared his astonishment Twitter by writing: “Does my show ‘promote the gay lifestyle’? It promotes living ANY lifestyle that includes the freedom to seek love and intimacy. Gay, straight, bi, young or old. It’s all inclusive….Plus, what’s THE gay lifestyle? There isn’t just one…”

In 2009, Lambert released his first album, For Your Entertainment, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. To promote his album, Lambert embarked on his first headlining solo tour of the globe, The Glam Nation Tour.
