After 11 years of marriage, Courteney Cox, 46, and David Arquette, 39, announced their separation, according to People.
The Hollywood couple, parents to six-year-old daughter, Coco, admitted there had been rough patches over the years, leading up to the separation. Cox said last summer that they had been to couples’ therapy.
“The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage,” they say. “We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together.”
“We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well.”
The couple met in 1996 on the set of Scream, married three years later, and their daughter was born in 2004. This summer, Cox and Arquette starred together Scream 4, which will open April 15, 2011. Arquette is currently starring in television show, Cougar Town.
