Teen idol donates time and talent to Cancer Society “More Birthdays” campaign.

Singer Justin Bieber, whose meteoric rise to fame took the music industry by surprise, has recorded one of the most popular songs in the world in support of a very worthy cause, the American Cancer Society’s “More Birthdays” campaign.

The song, Happy Birthday, was specifically chosen to call attention to the 11 million survivors of the disease who celebrate their birthday each year, giving hope to sufferers, according to teenmusic.com.

Justin Bieber, Maroon 5 and Keith Urban are among the singing stars who have recorded versions of Happy Birthday for the campaign, morebirthdays.com where fans can go online to purchase birthday-related merchandise. Jack Johnson, punk band Devo and country singer Colbie Caillat have also added their vocals to this initiative.

Bieber has two albums to his credit since November 2009, My World and My World 2.0. Yesterday, the latest rumours included a romance with Jasmine Villegas, a young singer who appears in his mega-successful music video, Baby.
