Coco Perez reports singer Beyoncé Knowles had a good reason for missing the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday evening (September 12). She was busy modelling clothes for designer Tom Ford.
The star was actually in New York City modelling renowned designer Tom Ford’s first ever womenswear collection at a surprise presentation.
Tom Ford also called on Julianne Moore, Daphne Guinness, Rita Wilson and Lauren Hutton to show off his new collection.
In October 2009, Tom Ford confirmed he was entering the women’s ready-to-wear world. He did not reveal a launch date for his new collection at that time. He did mention he hoped to unveil the collection in Fall 2010.
Ford previously worked as head designer at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. He launched his own label in 2004 after quitting PPR (Pinault-Printemps-Redoute).
He has enjoyed a lot of success with his menswear collections, sunglasses and fragrances but has never offered womenswear until now.
