Lou Reed says no to Susan Boyle

The rocker won’t allow the Scottish sensation to sing his classic song.

Lou Reed apparently does not like Susan Boyle. He would not let the Scottish singer perform his classic Perfect Day on America’s Got Talent.

The rocker withdrew his permission at the last minute. Susan Boyle flew all the way to Los Angeles to perform the song with a 100-person choir. Reed ordered his song be removed from the playlist.

A source told the Sun newspaper: "She had flown to America to do this and was very excited. Her version of the song was perfect. You could tell she was upset. It’s very disappointing for her."

Boyle had two hours to rehearse another song but decided to cancel her appearance altogether.

Lou Reed has allowed other artists to cover Perfect Day in the past, including Duran Duran, Patti Smith and Kristy MacColl with Evan Dando. The song is found on his 1972 solo album, Transformer.
