Glee welcomes Jay-Z and Lady Gaga

Star power marks Glee‘s second season premiere.

The phenomenon known as Glee is about to kick off its second season. The popular television series has a list a mile long of artists who want to participate. And show co-creator Ryan Murphy is picking the cream of the crop.

The season opener will feature songs by Jay-Z (Empire State of Mind), Lady Gaga (Telephone), Travie McCoy (Billionaire) and Poison (Every Rose Has Its Thorn).

The cast will perform two classic Broadway numbers, What I Did for Love from A Chorus Line and Getting to Know You from The King and I. As if that weren’t enough, they will also do a rendition of Listen from the film version of Dreamgirls.

The second episode will be a tribute to Britney Spears. Show execs are staying mum on which songs will be featured or if Spears will actually appear.

Glee soundtracks have proven to be incredibly successful so look for several more from this season. There will definitely be a soundtrack released of the Britney Spears tribute episode. This should keep fans in check before she releases a new album of her own.
