Slash is recognized as one of the all-time great rock guitarists. He has played with Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver. But it all started in West Hollywood.
The legend, himself, recalls: "Picking up the guitar for the first time in West Hollywood, then learning how to play in West Hollywood, starting a band in West Hollywood, and making it in West Hollywood. Everything in my life that is of any importance started in West Hollywood."
Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx and Motorhead frontman Lemmy were also on hand during the tribute to Slash.
Slash was very appreciative of the tribute. He commented: "And the Sunset Strip is like… such a part of me. So to be honoured by the Sunset Strip is just a major, major thing for me."
Slash performed at the third annual festival as well and appeared on stage with Fergie. The Black Eyed Peas frontwoman filmed a video with Slash last Friday (August 27) for the song Beautiful Dangerous. It’s a track off Slash’s recently released solo album.
