Leonard Cohen tour doc

The legendary singer/songwriter will release Songs from the Road on September 14.

Leonard Cohen is an undisputed Canadian icon who has inspired several generations of artists along the way. He has been touring these last few years and decided to compile a tour documentary of songs he performed at shows in 2008 and 2009. The doc also has a lot of behind-the-scenes footage. Cohen compiled the footage himself.

Songs from the Road collects12 performances of some of Leonard Cohen’s most iconic songs, including Lover, Lover, Lover, Bird on a Wire, Suzanne and Hallelujah.

The doc will be available in three separate formats, including a CD/DVD in oversized 2-disc softpack, Blu-Ray in standard Amray case and 180gm vinyl LP in a gatefold cove.

The DVD and Blu-Ray will also have a 20-minute backstage interview with the various band members conducted by Leonard’s daughter, Lorca Cohen. Album liner notes are written by New Republic editor Leon Wieseltier and a track-by-track insider’s commentary was written by Ed Sanders. He also produced, edited and directed both the CD and DVD versions.
