Interpol update

Drummer Sam Fogarino discloses details of new album and bassist’s departure.

Interpol’s eponymous fourth record will be available in stores September 7, reports Billboard.

"The writing process has always been pretty collaborative, but even moreso this time," says drummer Dan Fogarino. "I think at the onset, everybody was really willing to develop a lot of the ideas that Daniel (Kessler) came up with."

Fogarino adds that he believes the keyboards are more integrated into the arrangements on the new record. Complicating matters, however, is the fact that bassist Carlos Dengler, who played keyboards on previous Interpol records, left the band after recording the latest album.

For now, no new permanent member has been found to replace him. Fogarino notes that Dengler’s departure was on friendly terms.
