New releases for the week of July 27

Another quiet week for record releases in the miiddle of summer holidays.

The summer holidays are in full swing and just like last week, few major artists are launching new records during these dog days of summer.

Among those trying to fill the lull are
Huntington Beach-based Avenged Sevenfold, who have has chosen July 27 to launch their fifth studio album, Nightmare. that contains 11 new tracks. Their last album, which was self-titled and was released in 2007, climbed to 4th place on the Billboard charts during its first week.

Also launching this week: Praise & Blame,  Tom Jones’ new record, shows the 70-year-old singer to be in fine form and ready to reinvent himself, though he has denied recent rumours that he was collaborating with Brandon Flowers and The Killers.

In Canada, Morcheeba’s Blood Like Lemonade hits stores, though the album has already been available for two weeks in other markets.

Also this week, Art of Noise releases Influence, a double album of the band’s greatest hits as well as some remixes.
