Kid Rock won’t be rockin’ in Halifax

Day one of a two-day music fest is called off in Halifax.

Halifax Rocks was supposed to be a two-day music show on July 23-24 featuring Kid Rock headlining Friday night and The Black Eyed Peas taking the stage on Saturday.

Organizers abruptly cancelled the first day of music and offered no explanation why. Promoter Harold MacKay issued a release: "We truly regret that fans of these artists will not get to see them this year. We apologize for the disruption and inconvenience this may cause."

Other groups scheduled to perform on that first day were Daughtry, Counting Crows, Tonic, as well as Nova Scotia locals Jimmy Swift Band and The Stanfields.

Ticketholders for the first day are invited to get a refund or attend the show on the second day. Six-time Grammy winners Black Eyed Peas will perform then, along with Weezer, Classified, Hot Hot Heat, Rich Acoin, and Chad Hatcher.

This is the second year of Halifax Rocks. KISS headlined the one-day event last year.

Halifax is also playing host to Country Rockfest on August 6-7. Country stars coming to the city include Alan Jackson, Johnny Reid, George Canyon, One More Girl, Kevin Costner, Billy Currington and Lonestar.
