Lauryn Hill says ready or not

The former Fugees member talks about getting back to it.

The Fugees exploded onto the hip-hop scene in the mid-90s with The Score. Lauryn Hill earned a place in this male-dominated genre.

The group disbanded in 1997. Hill’s solo effort, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, came out in 1998 and achieved amazing critical success.

Not much was seen of the multi-Grammy winner over the last decade and she pretty much dropped off the map. Though she stopped making music, the girl was keeping busy.

She had five kids with Bob Marley’s son Rohan and devoted herself to raising them and being a hands-on mom.

NPR‘s Zoe Chace snagged a rare interview with the 35-year old singer. Hill talked about heading back into the studio to record new music.

She revealed that her youngest child is now two which makes it easier to get out of the house. She shared: "I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again."

Lauryn Hill will be performing as a special guest at the Rock The Bells music festival in August. The annual event takes place at three venues, in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, DC. Other big names on the ticket include Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang Clan and Tribe Called Quest.
