Singer Katy Perry is one of today’s reigning pop princesses. She shot to fame in an instant when her debut single, I Kissed A Girl, came out in 2008.
"My first record didn’t take off until I was 23 so I was perhaps in a different headspace to someone who became successful at a younger age," she told BBC Radio 2. "If you’re starting at 14 or 15 your maturity hasn’t fully evolved."
Perry has a hectic touring and promotional schedule but takes it all in stride. She credits a "great support system" for helping her stay on the straight and narrow.
A big part of that support system is her fiancé, Russell Brand. The British comedian admits it is difficult to date a pop star but says he has to learn to accept it. He also hits the nail on the head when it comes to describing his bride-to-be.
Brand explains: "Katy is a big, big character. But when you are just hanging out with her, she’s a normal bird (girl). She’s a laugh and she’s strong."
