Ozzy will give one band a big break

Ozzy Osbourne will choose an unsigned band to open one of his shows.

Ozzy Osbourne is giving an unsigned band the chance of a lifetime… the opportunity to open his show at this year’s iTunes Festival. The festival runs throughout the month of July in London.

Information on an Ozzy Needs You page on MySpace reads: "The Prince of Darkness is back in the UK and will be rocking the Roundhouse in London with a packed-out headline show at the iTunes Festival on the 3rd July. Ozzy is searching MySpace for the best unsigned band or artist in the UK to open the night with a roof-raising support set."

Bands or artists entering the competition had to answer this question: "What is the most rock’n’roll thing you or your band have ever done?"

Gill Mills was given the task of making a list of 10 finalists. She is a renowned new music scout and host of the popular Best of MySpace podcast.

The competition is now closed and Mills gave her list to Ozzy. He is listening to each entry in order to decide which lucky band gets the call. Ozzy will make an announcement in a live video webchat on MySpace this Friday, June 25.

Ozzy says: "Throughout my career I’ve felt this obligation to give up-and-coming bands a leg up in the music business. I’ve taken out bands from Motley Crue to Metallica to System of a Down and Slipknot on their first big tours. I’m looking to give a new band a huge f**king break by having them open the show."
