German producer Bernd Eichinger (Resident Evil) wants to hire Kate Winslet to play Natascha Kampusch, the Austrian girl held captive for eight years.
There’s only one problem: the girl was kidnapped when she was 10 and her ordeal ended at age 18. Kate Winslet looks great but she is 34 years old.
According to the New York Daily News, this movie could be made using flashback sequences.
No director has been confirmed yet for the project. But the name of Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) has been mentioned to play the role of the abductor, Wolfgang Priklopil.
Rumours of a film project have circulated since Natascha Kampusch was released in 2006. Initially, Scarlett Johansson was pegged to play the lead role.
Winslet just finished filming an as-yet-named comedy in which she stars opposite Naomi Watts, Gerard Butler, Kristen Bell and Hugh Jackman.
The actress will start work soon on Which Brings Me to You also starring Bradley Cooper.
