Tough times for Eminem

He didn’t want to admit he had a drug problem because it would make him look weak.

Rapper Eminem has talked about his battle with drug addiction in the past. Music-News reports he felt weak when he admitted he had a problem.

The star explains, "It took me awhile to admit I actually did have a problem. In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak. But if I didn’t admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die."

Despite his own experience, the 37-year old artist born Marshall Mathers says he would have trouble finding the words to help someone in the same boat.

Eminem sought help from Elton John when he decided to break his addiction to painkillers.

He admits, "I talk to Elton a lot. We became friends and I talk to him about things, career wise. And he had a substance abuse problem in the past. So when I first wanted to get sober, I called him and spoke to him about it because, he’s somebody who’s in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle."

Eminem’s new album Recovery was recently leaked online. It was scheduled to drop on June 22. Now he has moved the release date up by one day so it will come out next Monday (June 21).
