Pirates invade Toronto

A ship from the film Pirates of the Caribbean will land in Toronto for Canada Day.

Whether you like boats or pirate flicks or both, the city of Toronto has something for you during the Redpath Toronto Waterfront Festival on the Canada Day long weekend.

One of the jewels of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, starring our favourite pirate Johnny Depp, is spending a few days in the port of Toronto. Visitors can take a tour of the HMS Bounty and other tall ships from June 30 to July 4 during Canada Day celebrations. Click here to buy boarding passes.

The HMS Bounty was built in 1960 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, for the film Mutiny on the Bounty starring Marlon Brando. The boat was then renovated for the needs of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. That film was released in 2006 and was the second instalment in the popular trilogy that began in 2003. The ship has also been featured in many television shows and documentaries.

The Bounty will not be alone in Toronto; four other tall ships will sail into Toronto as part of the Redpath Toronto Waterfront Festival.
