King of Pop’s doctor still practicing medicine

A judge rules that Dr. Conrad Murray can keep his medical license.

According to a report on Music-News, Dr. Conrad Murray can legally continue to practice medicine despite the involuntary manslaughter charges against him. He is accused of administering a fatal dose of Propofol to Michael Jackson which resulted in his death on June 25, 2009.

The case was heard in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday (June 14). Judge Michael Pastor said he did not have the authority to change Murray’s bail conditions as laid out by another judge.

He declared, "I don’t have ability to revisit the actions of one of my colleagues. I do not have jurisdiction to revisit this matter. It doesn’t have anything to do with how I feel or what I think. It has to do with the law and this court’s ability to follow the law."

Yesterday was the prosecution’s fourth attempt to suspend Conrad Murray’s medical license.

The 57-year old doctor’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 23. If he is found guilty of the charges, he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
