A Canadian promoter sues Aerosmith

Keystone Entertainment Group says it lost $6 million last year.

A Canadian promoter based in Calgary was hired by Aerosmith in 2009 to produce concerts in Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

The company has now filed a lawsuit against Aerosmith claiming it was forced to cancel those shows in Western Canada just one day before the first show. Steven Tyler fell off a catwalk and injured himself in the States and the rest of the tour was cancelled. The company adds that the band did not offer to reschedule the gigs.

In its lawsuit, Keystone Entertainment Group asks the group to pay $6 million to cover damages, lost profits and expenses. The lawsuit also outlines the promoter’s financial burden, debts and lost potential profits estimated at $1.3 million.

Keystone Entertainment Group was also sued by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from the Canadian Football League in relation to this cancelled tour. The team claims it invested $100,000 preparing the stadium for a show that never happened.

Aerosmith will return to Canada this year as part of their Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock tour. The only date announced so far is at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on August 17 with another promoter.
