Lesbian couples have better adapted kids

Children raised by two women are better adjusted.

The journal Pediatrics reports on a study showing that lesbian couples have children who are better adapted and less likely to have behaviour problems than others.

The study was conducted over several years with 78 lesbian couples whose children were born through sperm donation. Mothers were interviewed during their pregnancy and then when their children were 2, 5, 10 and 17 years.

The responses were compared to those of heterosexual couples.

Children raised by two women got better grades, had better social skills, fewer behavioural problems and were less aggressive.

Often the women in these couples experienced childbirth at an older age. Researchers report they were thus more mature and able to provide better care for their children and be present more often too.
