LeAnn Rimes spoke for the first time about her break-up with Dean Sheremet during a recent interview with People magazine. The marriage ended after seven years following Rimes’ affair with actor Eddie Cibrian.
The singer said that she believes everything happens for a reason but admitted she acted very selfishly by having an affair with a married man. She confided: "I did one of the most selfish things that I possibly could do, in hurting someone else."
The 27-year old star is now dating 36y-year old Cibrian and added: "I take responsibility for everything I’ve done. I hate that people got hurt. But I don’t regret the outcome."
Rimes and Cibrian met on the set of the film Northern Lights in November 2008. Their relationship became intimate only several months later.
The singer revealed she tried to save her marriage before the infidelity became public news. In the end, she and her husband concluded it was better to end it.
Two divorces will be finalized soon, that of Rimes and 29-year old Dean Sheremet and that of Cibrian and his wife.
In other news, Rimes has a new song coming out, Swingin, on June 14. It is the first single off her new album, Lady and Gentlemen.
