According to the Hotel.info website, which keeps statistics each month on the subject, the average price of a hotel room in New York City was the highest in the world for the month of April 2010.
During this month, the average price charged for a room in this great American city was $240.63, almost $32 more on average than last year at the same time. It’s a clear sign of economic recovery in the States.
For New York, this increase of around 15% and the average price in 2010 is even higher than back in April 2008. It cost on average $220 in 2008 before signs of the recession began to kick in.
The second most expensive city in which to book a hotel room is Oslo, Norway where it costs an average of $211.55. This city also saw around a 15% increase from last year’s $174 which was lower than the 2008 rate for the same month.
Moscow rounds out the top three most expensive cities to stay in with an average rate of $199.81. Since the fall of communism, the Russian capital has appeared in the top three several times, sitting at number one many times.
